Travel demand models (TDMs) are tools for forecasting future travel patterns based on the estimation of the current travel behavior.  TDMs help planners and decision makers to determine transportation needs, develop transportation plans, and evaluate and prioritize transportation projects and policies.

The 2045 TDM, a first time applied activity-based multimodal travel demand model, forecasts average weekday traffic volumes primarily  for roadway classes collectors and above in the study area as well as transit ridership and walk and bike trips within the region.  Input to the model include population, school enrollment, households, dwelling units and employment.
